On the Costa Blanca, afternoon thermals and short chop require a little extra compared to inland waters. This practical guide—organised by length—helps you get it right the first time with realistic criteria, geared towards family dayboats, fishing/cruising and weekend trips.

7.5–8.5 m (1,800–2,600 kg)

  • Recommended: 250–350 hp (1x) or 2×150–200 hp.

10–12 m (4,000–6,500+ kg)

  • Recommended: 2×250–350 hp (outboard) or equivalent inboard petrol/diesel packages.
  • Realistic cruising: 22–26 kn; prioritises torque at medium revs and larger diameter propellers.
  • Practical notes: if you often go on trips with your family, give points to mechanical redundancy and the ability to maintain 20–22 knots in head seas without fatigue.
